RiverQuest TO FEATURE CRUISES, 'HANDS-ON' SCIENCE
EXPERIMENTS AT SCITECH SPECTACULAR

SciTech attendees will receive discounted family passes for a future cruise aboard RiverQuest's new, state-of-the-art flagship vessel Explorer featuring advanced hybrid propulsion system for experiential learning

PITTSBURGH, PA – RiverQuest, formerly Pittsburgh Voyager, the environmental education organization that provides school programs and private charters aboard its fleet, will offer 90-minute river excursions aboard its fleet as part of the October 13-22 SciTech Spectacular at the Carnegie Science Center. The 90-minute cruises will enable participants to sample the award-winning experiential river-based learning through hands-on activities and demonstrations, and learn more about the advanced technology that will be featured on RiverQuest's new flagship, Explorer, arriving this fall. All SciTech Spectacular attendees will also receive discounted family passes for a future cruise on the new vessel.

"We are very pleased to be a part of the SciTech Spectacular," said RiverQuest Executive Director Karl Thomas. "This is a terrific opportunity to collaborate with our friends at the Carnegie Science Center and provide the public with a first-hand look at our environmental science programs. They will also have a chance to explore the science behind the new hybrid diesel electric propulsion system that will be featured on the new vessel, and see how the biodiesel fuel that will run the new propulsion system is created from ordinary vegetable oil. Plus, visitors have a truly spectacular view of the city from our topside decks," added Thomas.

Thomas explained that the cruises are offered on Saturday, October 14, Saturday October 21, and Sunday, October 22. Tickets may be purchased directly from RiverQuest by calling 412.231.2712 (ext. 17) and are $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 to 18, and $5
for children 3 to 12. A special price of $5 is offered to seniors 62 and older. Tickets may
also be purchased as an "add-on" during SciTech (Carnegie Science Center) for a flat $10 and $5 for groups of 15 or more (reservations recommended), call 412.237.3410.
