Girl Scouts: Rivers of Life

Two sessions each day: 9:00-10:30am and 11:00am-12:30pm

Grades 4 and up, $6 per scout

Explore the biodiversity of life in and around Pittsburgh's rivers. Learn how people have depended upon Pittsburgh's rivers throughout history and hwo people are working today to preserve our rivers. Earn a RiverWorks Discovery® Otter Patch and a RiverQuest - Port of Pittsburgh patch.  Sponsored by the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.

Girl Scouts: Nautical Road

Two sessions each day: 2:00-3:30pm and 4:00-5:30pm

Grades 4 and up, $6 per scout

Explore the basics of river navigation, locks and dams, and maintaining navigable river channels.  Learn how barge transport compares to railway and highway transport. Earn a RiverWorks Discovery® Duck Patch and a RiverQuest - Port of Pittsburgh patch.  Sponsored by the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.

Important--Chaperone Information

Each Scout must be assigned to a designated adult chaperone. One chaperone may be responsible for up to 10 students. All passengers are ticketed passengers. Scouts will be grouped onboard according to age/grade level as much as possible. 


Trips go rain or shine. In event of cancellation due to high water, reschedule date will be announced. Please see below for cancellation policy.

 


BADGE REQUIREMENTS

RiverQuest programs may contribute toward accomplishments needed for different badges/patches/journeys etc.   RiverQuest does give "patches" for some programs, but these are not related to any scouting organization.

Cancellations:
RiverQuest reserves the right to postpone or reschedule this event due to dangerous weather conditions or mechanical difficulty. The boat sails rain or shine, but cannot get underway in high winds, freezing rain, dense fog, heavy snow, or high water/flooding. If the program is cancelled by RiverQuest, an alternative date will be scheduled.

Due to the seasonal nature and limited capacity of these trips, tickets are not refundable unless the trip is cancelled by RiverQuest.
