VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

May 2009: seeking volunteer docents for summer/fall  WEEKEND programming.

RiverQuest is a unique experience in the Pittsburgh area where long-time residents, newcomers, and visitors alike discover amazing things about our rivers and our heritage. Our participants experience the rivers of Pittsburgh firsthand as we cruise out onto "the Oh, the Al and the Mon" to enjoy a variety of programs from ecology to history to engineering and nautical themes.

RiverQuest needs volunteers to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth sailing of all of our programs.

A gratifying volunteer experience awaits you!

  • Share your skills and experiences.
  • Contribute to your community.
  • Learn new skills and gain valuable work experience.

Program Docent Description

Imagine the wind in your hair, the fresh air, a glorious day out on the boat and the gratification of supporting a fun and valuable asset to the community at the same time!

Perhaps you're a bird buff, a fish fancier, an insect expert, a master of Pittsburgh history, a river hound, an experienced educator, or just plain interested in sharing your love for our great cities natural resources.

All docents will assist RiverQuest in serving the community through our unique, educational river-based programming. RiverQuest staff will help you select a role with RiverQuest that most closely suits your needs and interests.  Availability on weekends and during summer months is needed.

Office Assistant Volunteer Description

Do you like to talk to people? Are you comfortable with organizing things? RiverQuest needs a number of volunteers to assist with office operations.

We need help with office and clerical duties including: answering the phones, making copies, filing, mailings, labeling and stuffing envelopes, taking registrations, putting together promotional materials and other miscellaneous tasks. Try your hand at one or more of these jobs.

Our offices are located in the beautiful Cardello Building on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. Come for a few hours, one or more days a week.  Availability on one or more weekdays, between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00 is preferred.
